Dear Snyder ISD Families,

I have some news about potential improvements to the curriculum your children use in the classroom.  Over the past few years, Snyder ISD has adopted new materials like Amplify (K-8), Eureka Math (K-5), and Carnegie Learning (junior high math). These resources were chosen to make sure our students are learning what the state requires (TEKS standards) and to help lessons build on each other from one grade to the next.

Recently, the State of Texas has worked to enhance these curriculum materials, incorporating valuable feedback from educators across the state. The result is Bluebonnet Learning, an updated curriculum that refines and improves the tools already familiar to our teachers and students. It's important to note that this is not a complete change to what our teachers are already familiar with but rather a more refined and polished version of the tools they’ve been using effectively.

This update will be discussed and voted on at Thursday’s Board Meeting, and I wanted to provide you with information ahead of time. If approved, Bluebonnet Learning will be used in the 2025-2026 school year.

How This Benefits Families

  • Easy Access to Learning Materials: Parents can view the Bluebonnet Learning curriculum online, making it simpler to follow along and support learning at home.

  • Homework Support: For math, step-by-step "Homework Helpers" will be available to guide families through assignments.

  • High-Quality Content: The updated curriculum features engaging stories and lessons that teach reading skills while also connecting students to history and culture.

How Bluebonnet Learning Supports Teachers

  • Better Lesson Pacing: Lessons align with the STAAR schedule, reducing the need for additional adjustments.

  • Enhanced Writing Tools: Includes specific lessons to strengthen students' writing, particularly in constructive responses.

  • Return of Beloved Novels: Students will again enjoy reading classics like Number the Stars and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

  • Ready-to-Use Planning Resources: Teachers will have access to time-saving tools, strategies, and insights to enhance their lessons.

These updates are shaped by real feedback from teachers and parents, making them relevant, practical, and beneficial for all.

Next Steps

The Snyder ISD Board of Trustees will review and vote on Bluebonnet Learning at their meeting on Thursday, December 12th. If approved, we’ll share more details in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for your continued support as we work to provide the best possible education for every Snyder ISD student.

Sincerely,

Bob Rauch
Superintendent
