Snyder ISD students had a unique opportunity to pay tribute to our veterans as Wreaths Across America brought over 600 wreaths through Snyder.
Snyder elementary students lined El Paso Ave. and waved American flags as the semi-truck, driven by US Army Combat Medic Veteran Stephen Landon, was escorted in by the Snyder Police Department, Snyder Fire Department, Scurry County EMS, and the Scurry County Sheriff's Department.
The wreaths made a temporary stop at the home of Jean Burns, who helped coordinate the event on behalf of the DAR and the Snyder Lions Club. Snyder High School students and other volunteers unloaded the wreaths from the truck.
Relatives may place the wreaths on their loved ones' graves, and volunteers will place the wreaths on the remainder of the veterans’ graves. On Saturday, a ceremony will be held at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Wreaths Across wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 2,500 locations across the United States, at sea, and abroad. To learn more about how Wreaths Across America began, visit https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/our-story.
Thank you to Mitch Hall Chevrolet for donating the flags to the Snyder ISD students!
