Today was an exciting step for 8th-grade students as they begin preparing for high school! High school counselors and administrative staff visited the 8th-grade campus to talk about many of the opportunities available at high school.
What was covered at today's 8th-grade student meeting?
We discussed a lot of information, including class rank, GPA, graduation requirements, a typical freshman schedule, electives, and more. If they can't remember ALL of it, don't worry, we will review this multiple times in the next several weeks.

How can parents help their children prepare for high school?
1. Ask them questions about today's meeting and the upcoming SHS Showcase.
2. Attend one of the 2 upcoming parent meetings (see below)
3. Learn more about the programs of study offered by visiting: www.snyderisd.net/programs
4. Talk to your child about what activities they want to be involved in during high school. Learn more about the athletic, arts, and other extracurricular programs offered here: www.snyderisd.net/freshman

February 13th: Parent Meeting #1 
5:30 pm 
Snyder High School
SHS staff will provide a recap of the student presentation and will also hold a Q&A session for students and parents.
🗓 February 15th: Snyder High School Showcase 
2:00-3:30 
Snyder Junior High School 8th-grade students will be bussed to SHS and returned to SJH when finished.
Students will visit program booths and interact with students and teachers.
🗓 February 16th: Parent Meeting #2 
5:30 pm 
Snyder High School
SHS staff will provide a recap of the student presentation and will also hold a Q&A session for students and parents. This will cover the same information as the February 13th parent meeting. Translation services will be available.
🗓 February 20-24: Eighth-grade students will meet with counselors and select classes for the 2023-2024 school year.
