  3. Even if you will not need a physical, the remaining forms must be completed in Rank One (the medical history form, all UIL forms, and the handbook form).

Tryout Week

Tryout times are subject to change, so be on the lookout for changes submitted to SportsYou or ParentSquare.

  1. Tryouts will take place at the junior high. Tryout dates will be Aug. 9th, 12th, 13th, & 14th. Teams will be posted on the 14th in SportsYou by student ID numbers.

    •  7th grade tryouts will be held from Aug. 9th from 6:00 am - 7:30 am.  Doors by the track will open at 5:45 am. For morning tryouts, athletes need to come dressed and ready to practice.

    • 8th grade tryouts will be held from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm.

    • No one other than the coaching staff and student athletes will be allowed in the gyms.  This protects all parties involved. All practice times are subject to change, so be on the lookout in SportsYou.

  2. Cuts will not be made. We will suit up 12 girls on each team, which is two 7th-grade teams and two 8th-grade teams. We will also have a practice team if needed. Once teams are established, we will have a volleyball parent meeting and hand out volleyball contracts.

  3. Equipment will be issued after teams are established.  You will need running shoes (No Converse, Vans, Keds, high tops, crocs), knee pads, workout shirt: black, gray, or Snyder Tiger shirt (no spaghetti straps, tank tops, sweatshirts, pullovers, oversized sleeves, or torn shirts will be allowed), and spandex (You may wear spandex, but they must be black only! Outside of the gym or in hallways/classrooms black shorts must be worn over the spandex. Spandex and shorts must also be appropriate in length, No crocs will be permitted for workouts),  If any of the coaches feel that the attire is inappropriate, you will be asked to change. The time you miss will be made up, so come dressed accordingly. You are responsible for providing your own workout attire.

  4. Take care of your body.  Soreness will set in after day one. YOU KNOW YOUR OWN BODY! Hopefully, you have been working in the off-season. If not, we recommend that you start making time to do so. We will know who has and who hasn’t been working out. Remember that when you get behind due to being out of shape, it is hard to make that time up.

  5. If you have an inhaler, make sure you bring it, labeled with your name,  to workout; it is part of your workout gear.

  6. Your hair must be pulled back and out of your face. NO JEWELRY! (This includes any new piercings & forever bracelets.)

  7. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, and eat well (high protein)! Sodas and sugary drinks will not help with hydration.

  8. The tryouts for the teams will consist of conditioning, ball handling skills, serving, passing, hitting, communication, attitude, and work ethic.

  9. Keep an open mind!  Attitude is key! Volleyball is not about individuals. It is a team sport; we must move and function as one on the court to be SUCCESSFUL!  There is no room for selfishness. PROGRAMS ARE NOT BUILT ON THE: IT’S ALL ABOUT ME ATTITUDE! PROGRAMS ARE BUILT ON COMMITMENT; HARD WORK; RESPECT FOR YOURSELF, YOUR TEAMMATES, AND YOUR COACHES!

  10. All team try-out results are confidential and final.  We will not speak to anyone about someone else’s tryout.

  11. Playing time is at a coach’s discretion. Playing time is earned, not given and is not a topic for discussion.

  12. Be on time. If athletes are late, consequences will be given.  If athletes miss a practice, the athlete will have a make up.

  13. We also want you to be aware that there is a chain of command to follow if you have an issue you feel needs to be discussed.

    1.  Speak to your coach first to try and resolve the issue.

    2. If the issue is not resolved, the athlete, the athlete’s coach, and the Head Volleyball Coach (High School) will discuss it.

    3. If the issue is not resolved, parents may become involved, and a meeting with the athlete, parents, and coaches may take place.

    4. Finally, if the above steps have been taken and the issue is still present, we will meet with the Girl’s Coordinator, Principal, or athletic director to discuss it.

Thank you,
