Snyder ISD is pleased to announce they have been awarded The Mentor Program Allotment (MPA). This allotment will allow the district to further develop and strengthen its beginning teacher mentoring program, ultimately benefiting students through increased teacher retention and effectiveness. We want to thank Kathy Scott, Director of Student Services, for her diligent work on this grant submission. The MPA is a state initiative designed to help districts build or sustain mentoring programs for new teachers. These programs are grounded in research-based best practices and focus on improving student outcomes by supporting and retaining high-quality educators. Districts participating in the MPA commit to meeting rigorous requirements for mentors, district leaders, and campus leaders involved in the program. The MPA funds can be used for mentor stipends, release time for mentors and mentees, and high-quality mentor training. Snyder ISD recognizes that providing comprehensive support and training for new teachers is a top priority. This MPA award will significantly enhance the district's ability to achieve this goal. The funding will allow Snyder ISD to provide its beginning teachers with the training and resources they need to thrive in the classroom and contribute to student success. The district is committed to fostering a supportive environment where new teachers can grow professionally and develop their skills, ensuring the best possible education for Snyder ISD students. #snyderisd #snydertigers

🔬📐 Snyder ISD Educators Attend Executive Leadership Summit

This morning, Mrs. Stevenson (Junior High Science), Coach Jennings (High School Math), and Superintendent Mr. Rauch attended the Executive Leadership Summit hosted by Region 14 Education Service Center and Texas Instruments.

This summit brought together outstanding educators and leaders to discuss new math and science initiatives and interactive technology. Educators also engaged in hands-on learning with TI calculators, explored Python coding, and worked with Rover robots to discover new ways to bring interactive technology to the classroom.

We appreciate Mrs. Stevenson, Coach Jennings, and Mr. Rauch for representing Snyder ISD and bringing back valuable insights to continue strengthening math and science opportunities for our students! #SnyderISD #SnyderTigers

One of our favorite events of the year is the Retired Teachers Luncheon—an opportunity to celebrate and honor individuals who have dedicated their lives to education. Guests received a warm welcome and were treated to a special performance by the SHS Pride of the West Band. They enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the SFE Food Services catering crew and were served by the SHS Student Council and NHS members. The SHS Floral Design classes created beautiful centerpieces and a special take-home arrangement for each guest, adding an extra touch to this meaningful gathering.

It’s always a wonderful time to reconnect, reminisce, and show appreciation for these incredible educators. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event memorable!

Snyder ISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of education needs of the student. Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Snyder ISD in kindergarten through twelfth grade this school year is asked to visit or go by the student’s campus office to request a copy of the referral form.

This form must be returned to the school by December 2, 2024. Those unable to go by the school should call the campus to request a form be sent to them.

Mr. Chavez and Coach Whiddon's 7th Grade Science students at Snyder Junior High recently completed the 100 Board Challenge, a fast-paced competitive review activity to prepare for their Unit 3 Test. As part of the engaging review game, students worked in pairs to answer questions cut up into strands on elements and compounds, physical and chemical changes, aqueous solutions, and the rate of dissolution. Students took one strand, answered the question with their partner on a whiteboard, and were able to put their initials on a spot on the 100 Board projected to the whiteboard if they got the question correct. At the end of the review, a random number generator was used to pick a winning pair, and those students earned a prize of their choice to celebrate. #snydertigers

Today marked another productive day at Snyder ISD. Participants in monthly instructional rounds enjoyed seeing the great things our classroom teachers are accomplishing firsthand! The group at Snyder Primary visited over 20 classrooms, while other teams observed classrooms at both the Intermediate and Junior High Schools. Superintendent Rauch, Trustee Leatherwood, and members of the Cabinet also participated in rounds.

The instructional rounds process, modeled after the medical rounds approach, aims to foster collaboration and professional growth among educators across Snyder ISD. By observing classroom instruction and learning from one another, participants gather insights that help identify trends and guide instructional support. It also allows administrative staff, trustees, and others to see how their work impacts campus staff and students. These rounds are held monthly and contribute to improving student outcomes district-wide.

Snyder ISD teachers demonstrated their dedication to providing quality instruction, and we believe their efforts will greatly benefit students! Keep up the GREAT work!

This weekend, several volunteers from Evergreen - SISD Research and Retail Greenhouse and the Snyder Intermediate School STEAM Team participated in the Keep Snyder Beautiful Fall Sweep cleanup. Evergreen replanted all the pots around the square and at City Hall with fall foliage, while the STEAM Team helped clean up the pocket park and paint around the square. We appreciate the work that all of the volunteers put in to spruce up our community!

This afternoon, Snyder Junior High Administration received information about a threat from a student (not associated with Monday’s incident). Students were discussing yesterday’s events, and a student allegedly made a threatening statement. Police responded immediately. The student was searched, and no weapons were found. After questioning, no intent to harm students was discovered. All students are safe, and the issue has been addressed. We ask all parents and guardians to remind their children that comments which may seem like harmless jokes, sarcastic remarks, or statements made out of frustration can trigger serious responses from school officials and law enforcement. Such comments can lead to disciplinary action and even criminal charges. In light of recent events nationwide, both the district and law enforcement maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward threats or any joking about violence. It’s important to have a conversation with your children about the seriousness of making remarks related to violence at school and the potential consequences of such behavior. We are grateful to the student(s) who brought this concern to our attention. If you see or hear anything suspicious or dangerous, please report it immediately to the school administration or contact 911. For non-urgent concerns, you can submit a report using the “See Something, Say Something” form available at www.snyderisd.net/safety. Together, we can continue to foster a safe and supportive learning environment while helping our students grow into responsible future leaders.
